Purchasing Manager

Job Summary:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations of Grieve’s Purchasing and Material Control groups. Their focus is on ensuring that the supply chain supports the company’s ability to efficiently meet customer expectations. They are required to manage suppliers to ensure quality components are available as needed at point of use and procured at competitive prices.

Essential Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Develop employee skills to meet the needs of the organization
  • Identify best values in the marketplace and align purchasing strategies to meet business goals
  • Leverage competition and commodity spend to mitigate price increases and achieve cost reductions
  • Ensure that supplier capabilities and performance align with the organization’s requirements and expectations
  • Manage the RFQ and ordering process to ensure timely placement of purchase orders
  • Direct scheduling activities to support Grieve on-time delivery objectives
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Sales to forecast commodities and standard component usage.
  • Leverage forecast to support strategic sourcing and cost reduction initiatives
  • Manage inventory levels to support production activities
  • Direct activities of Material Control staff
  • Support Safety and Quality initiatives throughout the organization

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required
  • 5 or more years progressive experience in Supply Chain discipline
  • Experience in Electro-Mechanical OEM highly preferred
  • Demonstrated history of supplier development and negotiating
  • Basic knowledge of inventory control processes
  • Experience in a Continuous Improvement organization desired
